Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Being from NY, I am always looking for great pizza and this pizza is LEGIT-THE BEST Pizza- EVER - in Broward County. Until now Garlic Knot and Humpy's had my votes, but they have been dethroned by Phil's, they are not even close! Phil's makes a perfect slice-reminiscent of NY/Jersey/Long Island/Staten Island Pizza - a good thing in my book! It has just enough golden brown cheese, good sauce, not greasy. It's a perfectly foldable slice with an insanely tasty crust - soft and chewy with just a bit of crisp underneath. Everyone is very nice, its a very clean place. Phil is from up North, good dude, very religious and the place show's his enthusiasm and devotion to the bible. Even if you are not religious like me,you should go and enjoy great pizza! I can not wait to go back :-) ENJOY!!!

We live in Miami on vacation Labor Day weekend. In Pompano Beach we ordered Heavenly special pizza a cheese pizza, eggplant parmigiana sub garlic rolls rolls. Everything we ordered was delicious. Everyone was pleased with the food and I would recommend.

I have had their pizza very delicious! Fresh and extremely tasty!! I had a meatballs and chicken pizza. They are pricey but for great quality. I also love the fact they have bible study there. Nothing wrong with a little Gods word and yellowish Jf a tasty pie!

The interior and exterior was awesome, I did a carry out order for a half pepperoni pizza and healthy choice pizza. It was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. It was worth every penny. My friends and I are definitely coming back next time we are in town.

This is by far one of the friendliest staff I have encountered and it definitely has heavenly calzones and pizza. They also sell a variety of other food like subs salads and burgers! I will definitely come again. And I appreciate the fact that the owner is grounded in his belief and his mission even though it may not be the same as my own

The best darn lunch special in Pompano. Two slices of delicious pie and a can of soda for only $5. The pie is pretty good also. For some reason some places pie is better by the slice and I find that to be true here. The slices here are real nice size also. Extra topping is only $.50 per slice. Quick friendly service and don't worry about the religious angle...they don't push it on anyone. Believe me I beat the bushes in Pompano for high value everyday lunch specials and the slice deal here is the best value along with Stinger's burger lunch special. The 5 star is the rating on the lunch special option.

Jesus Christ that's A LOT OF GREASE! I mean good lord there must have been some mistake. Were they trying to drizzle some olive oil and the cap came off the bottle? The entire calzone was completely saturated and soggy with oil. I mean to the point of holy shit that's disgusting. Even the burnt parts were soggy. How did they manage to do that? The wax paper under the crust of course doesn't help. Unless you're looking for help absorbing grease into the pie. The whole Christian theme doesn't bother me, even though I'm not one. I actually think it's really cool that they donate all their profits to local charities, but honestly that might be the most disgusting thing served to me in a restaurant in recent memory. I hope that isn't the way they intend to serve their calzones, but I won't be back to put another 25 bucks in the offering plate and pray the pie is edible this time...

Wow, I love this place. A " Church in a pizzeria". Notice what comes first there. The owner of this place is on a true "mission from God". Daily Bible studies, Sunday services, community outreaches, and counseling and prayer available anytime. There's Bible verses on the wall, and Christian music playing all the time. I was very inspired by talking to Phil, the owner. You can tell he loves God. Oh yeah... The pizza? Well, it may seem like my review of it is an afterthought, but it isn't an afterthought to Phil. Everyone around me seemed to love what they were eating. If you read any of my reviews though , you'll see that I've been totally gluten free for a year now, so one reason I went to PHP is that they advertise they have Gfree pizza available. If there's one thing I miss, being Gfree, it's pizza. Well I have to tell you, Phil's was amazing. The best Gfree pizza I've had yet in a pizzeria. If I loved in Pompano, PHP would not only be my new pizzeria, it might just be my new church as well! God bless you and what you're doing, Phil. You're a real inspiration.

Quick slice! Loved it! Yummy pizza done northern style with a thin crust. The church stuff is a bit out there but I believe in first amendment. :-)
(4)Petisha B.
Bangin pizza! I had a mushroom & banana pepper slice- literally out of this world. One could say it's NY style pizza, and I suppose it is... However it's FAR BETTER than the pizza I've had in NY, and I was just there last month. Boom!
(5)Danying H.
The food is so delicious! The staff is very friendly too. I went here once, and always wanted to come back! The environment is very clean, comfortable and soothing.

Our family enjoyed eating outside. We had to get our own cups and plates. No ice, had to go back in and ask if we could have some. Kinda surprised for the price that we had to gather this stuff ourselves. Really disliked the garlic bread with cheese it was very oily and bland. I was expecting pizza dough with garlic and cheese. My bad should have asked. The pizza was nice and hot with a great crust and the worker did bring it to our table. The atmosphere was enjoyable and the workers were nice.
(3)Rob Y.
I'm not sure why my review was not recommended. It's awesome
(5)Emily B.
Not a fan of their religious message - but - they have the BEST calzone I've had in South Florida!! It's so juicy, cheesy, and amazing. Their quick service and great calzone and good pizza are the only reasons I would return, but I do hesitate because I am not religious and am sensitive to the fact others are not as well.
(4)MickeyBlue I.
Came here based on the good reviews on Yelp and were delighted. The service was very friendly and welcoming. The owner seems very much involved in the daily activity not afraid to get his hands dirty. Our pizza was good, very doughy crust overall not bad.
(3)Kelley G.
Best gluten free pizza I've ever had. All ingredients were so fresh. Price was great! Love that it was a church.

I downloaded this app just to write a review for this place. I'm seriously blown away how I was treated and how rude the guy was who answered the phone. I moved to pompano 15 months ago and have been a regular customer order 20+ time between me and my roommates not to mention the people at work I've recommended them too. I have never had a problem getting them to deliver to me. I told the guy my address and he rudely asked where my house is. I explained and he said that's to far Mind you my house is within three miles of this establishment. I said I've ordered from them several times and never had this problem. He proceeded to tell me that they were busy and that he wouldn't send anyone this way unless I order $20 more dollars worth of food(which has never been the case for me or any of my 6 roommates). I stopped him told that's okay and that he will be loosing my business. People in the area know that pizza places down here are lacking and phils is simply decent. It's extremely greasy which Sometimes really makes me sick. I would stick to delivery if they aren't busy enough to deliver because this place is seriously overwhelming when you walk in. I can't figure out if there's more dust or Jesus's getting crucified. I'm down for religion but not while I'm eating pizza in a dusty and poorly decorated "restaurant" they literally have some Jesus movie on repeat on a big screen next to a fish tank. Not to mention right behind the cashier they have a real burnt pizza saying "this is well done" which seems like a jab at customers who simply want alittle crisp to their crust. Next to the burnt pizza and a shit ton of dusty fake pinnapples is I shit you not a picture with stairs going into flames and the other part going into a the sky saying "what will you choose". Honestly I like to give my money to local businesses but I'll just go to Pizza Hut for some shitty pizza instead.
(1)Stephen F.
The food is amazing. To those that complain about the "Jesus" all over the place - you're probably very accepting of all....who agree with you. Diversity means accepting those who disagree with you too. I have never been proselyted to while eating here with my family. Who cares that the guy loves Jesus. I love his food. Our family affectionately refers to this place as "Jesus Pizza." If wanting to make the world a better place through Jesus gets the guy up in the morning, who cares - the food is phenomenal! On one occasion I was in there and the owner was feeding two homeless looking fellows and talking to them - and I bet Jesus came up in conversation! But when was the last time you fed and had a conversation with a homeless man?
(5)Nick A.
Not many things worse than bad pizza & jesus freaks (#1stworldproblems), you cant win them all though, this waco-waiting to happen- type place has some damn good simple pizza, im hooked, but every square inch of the place reminds you that there's 1 lord & 1 lord only

Every so often I develop my film at a pro lab a few doors down, and it wasn't until my boyfriend mentioned wanting calzones that the "Calzone Factory" sign finally caught my attention. Sure it has a ton of religious markings and references on both the inside and outside of the restaurant, but don't let that sway your decision to go not go inside. This food is serious business! I walked in to take a look at the menu and decided to go with the peperonni calzone to go. The time it took to make this monstrous calzone was very reasonable - maybe 10-15 minutes. The only difficult part was trying to not eat half of it before I arrived home since the aroma of the melty cheesy goodness had to follow me in my car and back to the office. Later on that night I took one bite (followed by many more) and it was well worth it. They do not skimp on the amount of cheese they put - the only thing I'd alter is asking them to lighten up on the ricotta cheese and maybe asking for extra pepperoni. With that said, Phil's Calzone Factory is a godsend for carb overloading. Plus, the price was reasonable (around $12) and it could feed 2 people easily. I'll definitely be back, only next time I'd like to try out some of the pizza.

Located in a strip mall on the north side of Atlantic Blvd., just west of the Intercoastal Waterway, this pizza shop prides itself as being a church within a pizzeria. Stopped in after a day at the beach in the mood for a New York style pizza & we ordered a large heavenly cheese pizza [$13.50] to-go and enjoyed it very much. Thin and cheesy, lightly seasoned, this pizza was yummy! We left satisfied and gratified, so try it out if you're in the neighborhood. Amen.
(4)Natalie G.
Got two small calzones. They seem pricey but I could harldy eat half of one, they are HUGE, so they are worth the price. They overstuff it with lots of cheese as well, but skimp a little on the meat. They had the faintest hint of tasty garlic, but all in all I wished for it to be more flavorful. The sauce left something to be desired as well. But if Jesus is what you're craving you've come to the right place. I probably won't be back :(
(3)ElizaBeth W.
Vampires beware! Garlic and Jesus are oozing out of this tasty little joint. Tired of hitting up the same places in Pompano for lunch, my coworker and I decided to hit up Phil's. We went with the lunch special - 2 slices of cheese pizza and a soda for $5. The slices were huge and yummy! Definitely a great deal. I'd love to go back and get a calzone some time. If you're really into pizza and/or God then you should check this place out for lunch!
(3)Tiffany G.
Perhaps these people are focusing a bit too much on religion and not focusing enough on their food! The calzone was doughy, mushy, and just gross, and these people NEVER get all of your order correct. My advice to the owners: choose what you are running, a church or a pizza and calzone place? My advice to the customers: Go to ANY other place for better food than this!
(1)Steyr A.
Truly Bizarre... Apparently this place is actually a church also and they have religious study meetings and things like that. Now I don't care if a person is christian, jewish, buddhist or whatever. Most people subscribe to some kind of religion and a "Jesus is Lord" sign never bothered me at all. But this place is more than uncomfortable. I've seen less Jesus references in churches. They have the story of jesus playing on a big screen TV even. And worst of all christian music...yay. Nothing like music so horrid you wish somebody would play country music. Reminded me a great deal of being in the middle east and having Islam shoved down your throat at every turn even in places where you just go to get food. If there was a country with a christian theocracy or taliban, this place would fit right in. So what if you don't care one way or another about religion, how's the food? The food is amazingly subpar and I think a lot of people are putting "faith" into the 3-5 star reviews. The pizza reminded me of hungry howies / domino's pizza grade fare and you certainly don't get two mediums for $5 despite the other similarities. Granted it is hard to find truly excellent pizza in this area (the closest if probably Primanti Bros.) but that doesn't make crappy pizza miraculously become good pizza (did you like that one?). :) Now if you are a very religious person and would like to eat in a religious environment or support a religious business then this is the place for you. Especially if you aren't too particular about what you consider good quality pizza. If you don't feel like eating food in bible school or know the difference between good pizza and bad pizza you probably want to avoid this place.
(2)Andrew P.
Pizza does not taste good. Nice people so I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. I tried them a few times in case it was just a one off, unfortunately, both times the pizza was not even on par with even a chain such as little caesars , dominoes, pizza hut , let alone any other fresh pizza you can buy from a family owned pizza restaurant in the area. It seems there may be other factors that are causing people to rate them 4 to 5 stars which is okay, as long as you don't expect to get amazing 4-5 star food.
(2)Jason G.
2.75 The average person wouldn't read too much into the name; but rest assure there is a reason for it. While I have nothing against any religion, I find it best when its not mixed with food, much like our government. The owner has every right to turn his beachy pizza joint into a congregation should he see fit, but it will sway many people away. It will also attact many who share the same ideology and considering Phil's been here for years, I suppose it's done him well. The problem I have is more with the emphasis put into their message vs. their pizza. It was decent beach pizza. What I mean by that is there isn't an abundance of great pizza beach so for the typical slice this place will do. It's very ordinary. Nothing I'd drive out of the way to get. Pizza is pizza to many folks and depending on how you like it (wood, coal, brick, conventional gas ovens) it all varies, but my taste buds told me it was pretty pedestrian. I ain't drinking their juice so maybe that is why I'm not enamored with their pie. I heard this place used to make some great calzones so maybe I'll try that if the opportunity ever presents itself. I just hope it won't be in hell by the time that happens since this place never lets you forget about Hayzoos.
(3)Chris N.
If you can get past the very religious atmosphere and restaurant as a whole, I have.got to say this place has the best pizza I have had in a long time. They only use olive oil and all the dough is fresh. I would even argue that Heavenly pizza has as good or better pizza then new york.
(5)Jack D.
The same people who decry having religion "shoved down their throat" as one reviewer noted, will walk into 'Tijuana Flats' and talk about how awesome the Rob-Zombie styled decor is. People are naturally uncomfortable about religion, because it deals with the most important aspect of who we are. I'm a Christian and I'll admit I felt a little uncomfortable with how Phil's looked when I first walked through the door. This is by design. 'Phil' is using his platform to spread the truth as he sees it. If he were a minority fighting for equality or a homosexual advancing the same he'd be all over the news as a hero. When you consider what Christ stood for, the point is moot. Loving one another, being compassionate, giving good, polite service and the best food you can make are all admirable qualities in a person or his/her business. Phil's staff are polite and the pizza is good.

The cheese calzone is great. Order one of these on movie night, it comes with a great dipping sauce. Portions are huge. I'm not really into their pizzas. Service is friendly and helpful. The menu has something for everyone.
(4)Scott S.
This place is amazing. We come to Pompano every year and our first stop after we check into our condo is Phil's. A large calzone can feed my wife and me for three days. It's delicious. Highly recommended!
(5)Matthew L.
Stranded while waiting for an absent caterer after driving for 3 and a half hours, we were starving and frustrated. This place cured all those ills. I mean, first of all, you have to just check it out for the novelty of it all - a religious pizza establishment? How chic. Then we got a slice of cheese pizza, and our tastebuds ascended in rapturous glory. This thing was hot, salty, well-seasoned, and had a perfectly chewy and flaky crust. I'm not much for church-going, but if it meant I could eat more of this pizza, I might change my tune. If anything here is a religious experience, it's their perfect slices of awesome. Not only that, but the slice we got was free - they comped it for us because all we had was a credit card. So not only did we have some of the best pizza of our lives, but it didn't cost a cent. Ridiculously wonderful. Go here. Fast.
(5)Joshua R.
Good pizza great people and the price is right especially for the lunch special $5 two slices and a beverage.
(5)adam h.
Phil has awesome pizza. He uses Grande mozzarella, which, if you didn't know, is as good as it gets. Good dough when it's fresh, good sauce. Definitely the closest thing you're gonna find to a NY pizza around here. I get the lunch deal multiple times a week.
(4)Shauna L.
Holy pizza!!! I've never been to a religious restaurant, so this is a first... but I love to hit-up Phil's Calzone Factory for their lunch special - two slices of cheese pizza and a soda for only $5! Service is great and the orders are ready quick! So if your in the mood for some pizza, calzones, or some good ol' fashioned religious paraphernalia - check out Phil's!
(4)JJ B.
Prices for lunch special is 5 bucks out the door. Prices for everything else are a little high. Nice people
(4)Timothy M.
I have been going to Phils for about 6 months now and I'll continue to go back. The food and the atmosphere is great. Friendly staff and awesome studies in the Word everyday. Check Phils out if your ever in town
(5)michelle m.
I was very saddened by the review of Lesley who trashed this restaurant by implying that they would not serve pizza to people from other religions. My family and I have ordered delicious pizza from this restaurant for many years, including during two hurricanes where they basically supported the entire community of Pompano Beach as one of the only two restaurants with generators while the entire town was without power for two weeks. They discounted their pizzas then to $5 for a huge pizza, so they made sure that everyone got pizza and could afford it. My ex-husband is Jewish and he had a great friendship with the owner who always made sure we had hot food to eat during that time when there wasn't any to be had in town. The pizza is consistently very good. The woman who runs the counter is sweet and not offensive in any way. Pompano Beach is host not only to Christians, but Jews, Islamics, Hindu and many other religions and ethnicities. This is one of the most multi-cultured and multi-faith areas of Broward County. Heavenly Pizza has been happily feeding all these cultures delicious pizza for many years. So they pray over your pizza. What harm is there no matter what religion you are? If you went to the home of a person from another religion and they prayed over your food, would you not eat it? The people at Heavenly Pizza serve you good food from their hearts. Please don't hesitate to go to this clean, delicious restaurant run by good people simply because they pour their souls into your food. And in all likelihood if they really didn't serve someone, it was because they created some sort of drama and they wanted them out of the restaurant. I've never seen them not serve anyone ever.
(4)Enrico C.
Throw up your god hands for Phil's Calzone factory! Sit down for some Fox news and life rock and if that doesn't curb your appetite for the lord there are plenty of bibles and handouts to take with you, the pizza isn't bad either. You can't even play video games here without being down with Christ. The lunch special is truly heavenly at the angelic price of $4.75 for a couple of decent slices of pizza and a drink.
